Lindeville Man Causes Fire at Krystal Restaurant After Trying To Burn an Ant

“What in the world was this boy thinking?”

Written by Mary Margaret Middleton Jr.

An arrest has been issued for a local man who started the fire that burned for several hours earlier this week at the Krystal in Lindeville. The man told authorities that he noticed an ant crawling on the table while he was waiting for his order and attempted to burn it with his lighter. Authorities did not get an explanation for why he felt the need to burn the ant but the manager of the restaurant was able to quote the man as yelling “Kill it! Kill it with fire!” as she witnessed him lighting the ant and the subsequent table and eventually the entire Krystal on fire. Deputies found a bag of marijuana in his backpack and he appeared to be high. There is no evidence that he intentionally started the fire but that did not do much in the way of easing the frustration of the restaurant’s manager, “What in the world was this boy thinking?”

Bail was set at $2,000 and the man’s attorney declined to comment for this story.
